Current Vacancies

Due to the expansion of the current business, we are looking to recruit an experienced production planner.

As production planner you will be responsible for the successful capacity planning and scheduling of all manufacturing operations within the MRP system ensuring, material, equipment and operator availability, balancing supply and demand, co-ordinating and optimising manufacturing processes, and resource. Manage potential bottle neck areas through visual planning. Manage the procurement of raw material, stock consumables and consignments. Responsible for managing the logistics of sub-contract operations and final product dispatch.

Working in a lean environment you will be involved in introducing and maintaining visual stream maps for ensuring fluent movement across all operations. The creation of the works orders and documentation handling will be managed via process flows to ensure the correct data and sequences are being followed. Managing the Bills of Materials via MRP integration to ensure all components are accounted for.

Review and maintain stock demands and adjust to suit based on reporting.

As part of the development of the business you will also be involved in the implementation of a new ERP/MRP system, creating, managing and controlling processes to ensure production targets are met. This will include the set-up of workstations, identifying and assigning skill sets, producing standardised workflows. Using lean applications to drive manufacturing efficiency. Maintaining stock control of consumables. Creating reports for production and material availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the capacity schedule of production operations to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Issuing works orders and manufacturing instructions.
  • Produce production workflows for main product types.
  • Prepare status and performance reports.
  • Review T&A relating to estimate vs actuals to ensure manufacturing processes are optimised.
  • Carry out continuous improvements to manufacturing operations and set-up.
  • Managing the stock of materials, consignment and consumables.
  • Manage the availability of operators, equipment, and materials in accordance with project demand.
  • Manage the production aspects of MRP accordingly. 
  • Control of documentation including drawings, process specifications, data sheets ect.
  • Coordinating logistics for both sub-contract and final product dispatch.
  • Liaise with Engineering to ensure BoM’s are released in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure kitting demands are met.
  • Always adhere to Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Adhere to the required Industry Standard Quality Systems – ISO 9001.

Qualifications & Education:

  • National Diploma and/or NVQ Level 4 relating to Engineering and Production/Project Management
  • Understanding of Rotating Electrical Machines and associated process.
  • Understanding of a lean manufacturing environment.

Experience:

  • Proven experience of a production planner within an engineering environment or similar.
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and relevant quality control principles.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Projects and ERP/MRP Systems.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiar with an array of manufacturing processes.
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to work both independently and in small groups.

Physical Requirements:

The Role

You will be responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting a range of electronic products and final unit instruments. You will ensure each product meets the highest quality standards supporting smooth progression through inspection and release through working from detailed documentation and use of appropriate equipment.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Assembling, testing and inspecting a range of electronic products.
  • Liaising with the Senior Design Engineer and Project Manager.
  • Developing internal procedures and standards as required.
  • Updating and maintaining manufacturing procedures as required.
  • Identifying faults and supporting Senior Design Engineer in diagnostics.

Candidate requirements

Qualifications and experience: 

  • Typically, HND, BTEC, degree, or equivalent apprenticeship in electronic engineering.
  • At least three years’ experience in an electronics assembly environment is desirable.

Technical Skills: 

  • Hand soldering and rework of surface mount components.
  • Use of diagnostic tools including multimeters and oscilloscopes for circuit testing and fault finding.
  • Understanding technical documentation including circuit schematics and PCB layouts.

Soft Skills: 

  • Strong problem-solving abilities including curiosity and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

PPI supplies the power generation sectors, including renewables, oil & gas, the process sectors, mining sectors and defence. As well as providing high technology support and solutions for all rotating electrical machines, control & protection systems, and power electronics.

Job Summary:

Due to the expansion of the current business, we are seeking to recruit winders for both High & Low Voltage rotating equipment.

This is a multi-disciplined role, covering coil installation, connecting, and testing of both AC and DC rotating equipment. This includes the winding of stators, rotors, armatures, and exciters. As a winder you will be operating various pieces of winding equipment, from producing and forming of coils, insulating to inserting, connecting, and insulating windings. Connection of windings will incorporate various connection methods including Gas, Induction, Tig brazing and soldering. Also, you will conduct in-stage electrical testing during all winding activities.

The role may entail both on-site and off-site/overseas working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Winding of Electrical rotating equipment; including coil installation, connecting, and testing of both High & Low Voltage assemblies.
  • Producing both pre-form and concentrated coils.
  • Preparation of major components prior to winding.
  • Operation of capital equipment and tools.
  • Ability to conduct local repair works on service contracts.
  • Use of testing equipment.
  • Diagnose and fault find.
  • Use of both hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Always adhere to Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Adhere to the required Industry Standard Quality Systems – ISO 9001.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working area.

 

 

 

Qualifications & Education:

  • NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering.

  • Either time served or experienced in winding the following: –
    • Coil installation and connecting of 3-phase stator windings.
    • Coil installation and connecting of 2-pole rotors.
    • Winding of Exciters, Armatures and DC rotors.
  • An understanding of different insulation materials & Systems.
  • Brazing using both manual and semi-automatic techniques.
  • Both Mechanical and Electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to conduct in-stage electrical tests.
  • Experience of working in an engineering manufacturing environment.

Skills:

  • Good hand fitting skills/techniques.
  • Taping and banding skills.
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent Communication.
  • Good attention to details.
  • Ability to work both independently and in small groups.

We have a requirement for a Projects Engineer preferably with experience in handling technical customer accounts in a manufacturing or engineering business. The individual should be self-motivated, flexible and have some mechanical engineering and logistics knowledge.

The successful applicant will be working as part of a small team and would be required to undertake the following tasks

  • Manage current projects and deliver on time, in budget.
  • Coordinating service engineers
  • Assist in the development of new business in the UK and overseas.
  • Liaise with the PPI Engineering team across departments in the UK and the commercial office in China.
  • Liaising, negotiating and building relationships with suppliers and Customers worldwide.
  • Provide technical, commercial and logistics support as required.
  • Some Clerical/Admin tasks – raising purchase orders, invoices and shipping documents

A knowledge of Microsoft Office and Access software would be an advantage.

The successful applicant would also be required to travel overseas to visit customers and suppliers.
